TheyDo was created when two of best mates asked me to marry them. I went through the process to become a registered celebrant. Standing at the front and guiding my friends as they said “I do”, it was a memory that I will forever cherish!
But I quickly realised that it’s unrealistic for everyone to go through months of training and the high costs just to marry a loved one.
I wanted others to have that same incredible experience—without all the hassle. That’s why TheyDo exists: so you can be the one leading the ceremony, while we take care of all the legal details.
Can I Marry My Friends or Family?
In Australia, a civil celebrant can legally marry people. If you’re considering marrying a loved one, you may have thought about becoming a celebrant yourself. However, the cost and time investment can be significant, and it may not be worth it. Instead, you might want to consider a service like ours where we handle the legalities, so you (and the couple) can enjoy fun bits!
Understanding the Components of a Wedding Ceremony
A typical wedding ceremony consists of two main parts: the legal and non-legal components.
The Legal Part: This includes all the necessary paperwork you’ll need to manage before, during, and after the wedding. There are only about 70 words that must be spoken during the ceremony to make it official—easy peasy!
The Non-Legal Part: This is where you can shine! As the one marrying your friends or family, you can personalise the ceremony however you like. From guiding the wedding party down the aisle to sharing their love stories, leading the vow exchange, orchestrating the ring exchange, and introducing the newlyweds—the possibilities are endless!
